'My work explores identity, belonging, and human connection through light and everyday experiences. I am interested in how memories, relationships, and culture shape our sense of self and place. Light is central to my practice, revealing moments of stillness, connection, and disconnection. Drawing from lived experiences and observation, I use colour, atmosphere, and intuitive mark-making to transform ordinary moments into quiet reflections on belonging, memory, and familiarity.'
Salony Garg (b. 1992) is a contemporary Indian painter whose work explores identity, belonging, and
human connection through figurative painting. Before pursuing fine art professionally, she worked as
a cartoonist and graphic designer in India. In 2019, motivated by a desire to create representational
work, she began her formal training at Samsara Academy of Art and later graduated from the
Barcelona Academy of Art in 2023.
Garg has received several recognitions for her work, including the Gold Prize from the Prafulla
Dahanukar Art Foundation (2025), the Outstanding Technique Award and an Honourable Mention at
the NTD International Figure Painting Competition. Her paintings have been exhibited internationally,
including at the Salmagundi Club, New York, and the Mall Galleries, London, as part of the Royal
Institute of Oil Painters Annual Exhibition.
Her works were also selected by the Art Renewal Centre for inclusion in the Lunar Codex project, a
cultural archive preserving contemporary artistic achievements for future generations.
