What Memory Built in Colour
7th November - 24th December 2025
Location
Pristine Contemporary
Gallery Pristine Contemporary presents What Memory Built in Colour, a two-person exhibition featuring artists Dasha Buben and Thilini Jinadasa, on view from Friday, 7 November to Wednesday, 24 December 2025. The exhibition brings together Berlin-based Belarusian artist Dasha Buben and Sri Lankan contemporary artist Thilini Jinadasa, whose abstract practices draw on memory, emotion and the evocative power of colour.
Featuring Vivid Memories of Things That Never Happened to Me by Buben and The Secret of Hues by Jinadasa, the exhibition reflects on how recollection and imagination converge through abstraction, where colour becomes a medium of reflection and feeling.
In Vivid Memories of Things That Never Happened to Me, Buben presents nineteen works that explore the shifting and unreliable nature of memory, how it alters, overlaps and dissolves with time. Through layered abstraction and vivid tones, she translates fleeting impressions and imagined moments into contemplations on identity and perception.
Jinadasa’s The Secret of Hues comprises twelve works that approach colour as both language and mystery. Her compositions balance control and spontaneity, creating spaces that hold the weight of emotion without words.
Together, Buben and Jinadasa open a quiet conversation between memory and emotion, where colour becomes a vessel for introspection, as well as a reminder that the most deeply felt often defies explanation.
